Let me start with three steps you can start now for a better keto mindset. As you know, keto food is just a tiny portion of keto success. What you think about food and how you feel about taking care of yourself will trump your attempts at doing a complete diet overhaul.
The entire purpose of taking on a keto lifestyle is to live a better life, not do excellent at keto.
You’re Already Here
I won’t start with the importance of community; the fact that you’re here tells me you already know how important having a safe and knowledgeable community can be. There are immeasurable benefits to having a supportive community that will cheer you on and lift your spirits. I mean, having people to check in on you and hold you accountable is a great way to do anything.
3 Keto Mindset Hacks
The first one is to not jump in with huge goals.
We aren’t looking at the whole staircase, right? Just the first step ahead of us, that’s it. What can you do right now to keep you on the keto track? What can you do today to reach those keto goals? And, what can this week look like in the world of keto?
Then, leave it there!
Changing the way you eat is a big deal. It’s easy to sabotage before you even get started by biting off more than you can chew. It may sound easy, but it’s in the doing that you’ll become healthier and more motivated. Focus on right now. That’s it.
The second one is to remember that routines create habits, and this is precisely what will make a keto lifestyle thrive.
We all have habits that haven’t served us well, especially regarding food. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be here. The best thing you can do is develop a routine that works for your lifestyle, not try and develop an entirely new lifestyle with new habits in one day. This is where change can feel overwhelming, where most people fail. It’s safe to say you can even begin with creating a routine and incorporating keto into it over a few weeks.
Small, incremental changes matter.
It’s in these changes that significant results happen without you noticing that you’ve changed aspects of your life. And remember, these changes can happen at any time in your journey, not just in the beginning! There is always room for improvement.
The third mindset hack is to understand there will never be a ‘perfect time‘ to start, implement a new idea, begin a new aspect to your routine, or make any changes to your current keto lifestyle.
Waiting for the perfect time or until a certain date is just a form of procrastination. What I’m saying is, the time is now, always. Unfortunately, so many of us have created a life of excuses and reasons why we “can’t” when we need to begin and give ourselves some grace.
Keto Can Change People
Isn’t this what we want? Not just a change in what size we are, but a difference in how we take care of ourselves. How important we make ourselves and put our needs first by treating ourselves like we are important. The goal should never be to seek keto perfection instantly or ever. Instead, our mindset is to take care of ourselves with the same love, acceptance and grace we would give a child, a sibling or a best friend.
This is how we can live a better life with these three steps to a better keto mindset. Before I forget — I had many people ask about the journal I’m using to help with my own mindset and it is still my favorite – The Lightbulb Moments Journal on Amazon.

Great post, thank you!
I agree , I find better success when I take baby steps into keto instead of diving in cold turkey. Make gradual habits.
I have been a procrastinator-always waiting for the right time to begin. Your info above tells me that I can begin at any time with small changes and I don’t have to have the perfect time. Thank you for this and I will reread it frequently to help me get on track. I am 70 and I guess I have felt too old to do KETO. I will start with changes today. Thank you for all your help.
Thanks Amy, I’ve really struggled lately and needed to read this.

what happens if you go somewhere like church on
Wednesday night and eat at 8 pm. Is that not a good idea?
Thank you Amy. I needed to hear that I don’t have to do Keto perfectly. I’m well into my senior years and have always been a perfectionist. Its hard to live up to that. I’ve been reading and buying diff foods to help me along. I have been off of white flour and sugar for 3 weeks. If I did nothing else I would still be doing myself a huge favor! I keep a food journal and try to stay at 20 net grams. I’m still a little confused with the macros and how to figure things,by percentages etc. I’ll keep on, maybe eventually I’ll get,it.
Thanks again.
Boy, did I ever need this blog. I’ve read it each day since you published it, Amy and Team UCANKETO. Thank you for the perspective. We get in a slump and tend to focus on one aspect of our lives when there are so many different parts.
This was very inspiring. Thanks, again.
