The weather is changing, and for those who live in changing climates – NOW is the time for some great keto picnic ideas! There are so many things about warmer weather that make us happy, eating outside with friends and family is certainly one of them.
Just imagine…
The sun is shining, it’s warm outside, your people are happy to spend some time together, and you have a basket or cooler full of keto friendly, delicious foods. This is something I love about a picnic, just how casual they are.
Bring the kids, have some games, let the puppies tag along and enjoy yourself.
This keto life cannot just be about food, it is a healthier lifestyle; this includes spending time doing the things you love with people who encourage you to live your best keto life. It’s time to get outside, move your body, get creative with menus, and enjoy life!
Keto picnic ideas for your basket!
I’ll share my list of basics to make this planning easier for you:
- Cheese
- Cured meats like pepperoni or salami
- Smoked salmon
- Nuts
- Olives
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Cucumber
- Guacamole
- Your favorite keto dips
- Pickles
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
- Salads
- Sugar-free drinks
- Flavored water
- Perfect Keto bars or cookies for dessert
- Keto snack mixes
Some of my not-so-basic keto picnic suggestions include keto foods that are not so grab and go, but may require a little more planning and preparation.
These include:
- Keto quiche
- Rotisserie chicken
- Flax or almond crackers
- Devilled eggs
- Lettuce wrapped sandwiches
- Pork Rinds
- Cauliflower picnic salad
- Stuffed peppers
And, you cannot forget the ice packs, garbage bags, plates, forks, cups and napkins!
Hey, you can even bring a board and create your very own keto charcuterie.
The greatest thing about these keto picnic ideas is that once the entire menu is keto-friendly, it takes the guesswork and time out of “finding something to eat’, or bringing your own foods.
I’ve been doing this keto-thing for a while now, I have spent years coming up with ways to incorporate keto into your lives in the most sustainable way possible for everyone.
A keto friendly picnic can be as easy as you would like to make it.
Just remember that portion control matters, so be mindful of what portion sizes look like – or better yet, portion your food ahead of time and place them in reusable bento boxes or containers. The mason jar salads I have posted would be great for a picnic, not to mention they would be waste-free.
So, now that spring has arrived, let’s make more of an effort to be outside with our loved ones, this can include solo time!
Soak up the sun, play some games, listen to your favorite meditation app, go for a walk and enjoy the sights and sounds nature has for us to relax and recharge.
Create new memories and traditions that go hand in hand with a healthier lifestyle, this weightloss and health journey is a marathon! It is not a chore, and it is not a race.
Let me know in the comments what your traditional keto picnic food or activity ideas are!

These all sound like good ideas. I’m still struggling to get back to eating the keto way. Lost 20 pounds last year then went thru a very hard emotional time and lost tract.
I haven’t picnicked on keto yet but this is great. Our granddaughter is coming to visit soon so we will be eating at parks. Thanks for the many choices to picnic and stay keto.

Great ideas.
Thank you Amy, these are all great. Among my favorites are guacamole and lox😋
This is a great idea for traveling from East to West Texas locations. We have family 6 to 9 hours away and a Keto picnic lunch would be an excellent way to avoid DQ or travel center eats. Thank you.
Great ideas for a picnic…

Great lost of choices and thank you.
How about chicken salad? I make ahead and then bring small lettuce wraps for everyone to make their own at picnic. Yum
