What does positive thinking have to do with a keto lifestyle?
We all have people in our lives and on our social media timelines that tell us to think positive thoughts when we begin to feel overwhelmed.
Positive thinking has become the new wellness mindset that we are encouraged to adopt, but how does this affect our keto lifestyle?
First, let’s look at what positive thinking is.
Positive thinking is a mental and emotional mindset that allows us to look at the positive side of life so we can anticipate good health, wellness, success and more positive energy or blessings. I mean, having a positive outlook on life allows us to be more confident and capable of overcoming life’s obstacles.
Changing our mindset about food and health can be one of those obstacles!
The benefits of positive thinking are endless, so here are a few to think about:
- Positive thinking makes you more optimistic, friendly, considerate, and this improves your relationships with others.
- With a positive outlook, you become more motivated, and can help motivate others to improve their lives as you are.
- Positive thinking improves your physical and mental health, emotional health, and your gut health and immune system.
- A positive mindset can help to reduce stress and anxiety, increasing confidence and happiness.
- You are more likely to succeed when you think you will.
How do we fine tune a positive thinking mindset?
I’m including a list of things that have worked for me to transform the way I view my body and the role food plays in my life:
- Taking inventory of the things that go right in my life.
- Making a list in the morning of the things I am grateful for.
- Giving thanks for the things that I am grateful for in prayer.
- Journaling.
- Keeping distance from those who are negative thinkers, or those who see the worst in others and situations.
- Staying around people who are avid positive thinkers.
- Forgiving myself for having bad days.
- Read books or listen to podcasts about self-help or positive thinking.
- Smile more and laugh out loud.
You may know people who can find a problem with every solution.
A negative attitude does a few things, namely it can make it hard for others to be around you.
When people are working towards a healthy mindset, they need to be around others that have a positive outlook on life. Have you ever heard that quote “misery loves company”?, the same goes for positivity!
Practice makes perfect. Living with a positive attitude is an important part of this keto journey. It’s easy to beat yourself up about setbacks, the way your body looks to you, how hard you find it to let go of certain foods, and how others view your journey.
The hard part is letting go of those old negative thoughts and habits that have got you to this point.
Positive thinking is the first step to creating a successful mindset.
If you are always thinking of the worst, how can you space for the positive things to enter your life? This keto journey is one that can add years, even decades to your life; it’s time to learn to enjoy it to the fullest!
I hope that you have taken something away about positive thinking and your keto journey!

Thank you Amy I love reading about positive things and thoughts. Wanted to ask a question. I am doing a 3 day quick start and am really having a dry mouth even with drinking 64 to 70 ounces of water.
Great blog. Thank you.
Mindset truly does matter! Thank you Amy!
This is great advice and definitely something I am trying to improve on.
Thank you Amy!!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing
So right on, Amy! Stinkin’ thinkin’ defeats you before you begin. Attitude is the chief determining factor in life. If you think you’ll fail, you undoubtedly will; if you believe you’ll succeed you will learn from the failures and keep going until you succeed!
I am so positive now about my health. Food used to control me, but now I am in control. This helps me so much. I need all the help I could get. But I am filling pods
Thank you Amy for being such a positive influence. I appreciate your reminders of loving myself and staying positive.
I’ve been following you for at least 4 years and I’m so grateful I found your blog and to receive your emails.
Thank you
You are so right right on. Loved your blog.
Great suggestions!!
Thank you for writing about positive thinking! After losing my husband unexpectedly 4 years ago, and going through the worst of the grief process, I had to make changes. I went on keto and lost 70 lbs. That took over my daily life, planning meals, etc. After I reached my goal, I was at a loss. Now what? It was so easy to slide into sadness again. I decided to only watch uplifting things on tv and make an effort to thank whoever gave me my first laugh of the day. Also, to find ways to show appreciation for people around me… coworkers, family or friends. I still get sad, but these steps have helped me to appreciate the good things in life. I moved last year, to a different state, and in the process gained about 20 lbs, so I’m getting back on the keto train! Enjoy your life, it’s the only one you get!
Thank you Amy. This is very powerful. Thank you for all what you do for the UCANKETO community.
Thank you, Amy! Always good to remind people about being positive. The world is so negative right now it is actually a job to keep positive but one we must do.
