Many people have asked me if probiotics are necessary while living a Keto lifestyle?
Short answer is “yes”.
Long answer is still “yes”.
Let me share something with you that I have discovered over the years while Keto: Gut health will make or break your efforts while Keto. Research has shown how important gut health is for regulating moods and hormones, and for combatting disease.
Over the past handful of years while maintaining my Keto weight loss, I discovered I still did not feel as healthy as I wanted to (everyone in my Facebook community has witnessed this!).
What I have come to realize is that it wasn’t enough for my body to weigh less, I needed to make sure I was fueling it with nutritious foods. And more importantly, if I did not have a healthy gut – my body would not digest the good foods well enough to use all of these nutrients!
Our gut plays a huge role in the digestion and absorption of nutrients and fats.
Meaning if the gut isn’t working at it’s best, our Keto efforts won’t be giving us the results we really want and need. This can look or feel like bloating, diarrhea, cramping and other digestive issues.
But the truth is, many sources of probiotics from foods come from those that are higher in carbs like yogurt and kefir.
So, how can we fix this?
Probiotics.
Well, a combination of probiotics and nutritionally dense foods. Poor gut health will slow down Keto weight loss. The introduction of Probiotics can help to create a better balance, so you have a digestive system that works well AND more energy because your body is using the Keto food as fuel!
How to maintain a healthy gut on Keto
I’m sure if you’re here, you have had some concerns about how your body is managing a Keto lifestyle. Here are a few tips to keep your gut healthy.
Make sure the Keto foods you choose are nutritious. Nutritious foods will be dense in digestive enzymes and will have a balance of vitamins and minerals your body needs to be its healthiest.
My Ucanketo Community is FULL of healthy Keto recipes. If you haven’t already, visit us on Facebook or visit my Ucanketo Instagram page, or lastly, my Pinterest – I’ve been working hard to get my Pinterest community all this Keto info! Nutritious foods will be dense in digestive enzymes and will have a balance of vitamins and minerals your body needs to be its healthiest.
Add a probiotic. It’s simple, but please make sure the probiotic is Keto friendly – you already know how sneaky hidden carbs and sugars can be!
A probiotic on a Keto diet will help you to absorb fats while eliminating digestive issues.
The truth is, a Keto diet has already been proven to help improve gut health. The addition of a high quality probiotic (this is the one I recommend) will help ensure your body is getting the best care possible! We all know this isn’t just about weight loss, especially when we have the ability to make better choices and feel great!

Very interesting! I found this out after I was diagnosed with R A several years ago. I did not like the affects of the medication and found by researching diets that what you eat is what really helps symptoms. And as a result I was able to reduce medication by half. I have followed you for a couple of years now! I appreciate all that you and your staff do! Amazing!
Thanks for the information.
Thanks
Thank you for all you do for this community

Great Info ❤
Thanks.. I have used probiotics before.
Digestive health is so important. Many overlook it. Thanks!
Thanks for this info
I started keto in August and immediately added probiotics and digestive enzymes. It took me about 14 weeks to become fat adapted and to have improved digestion, but after all this time, it still could be a lot better. A couple of months ago, I added Axis Trebiotic, and I haven’t noticed much improvement. Your article made me realize that my keto foods probably need to be a little better quality. Eating for better health is certainly a learning curve. I appreciate all of your tips!
Having recently been diagnosed with IBS, this is a very timely blog….Thank you
