Before jumping into keto menu ideas, let’s start with knowing what’s in season! I know, if you’re like me, you get excited about the strawberry season, then that’s it. However, I often forget that other unique foods taste extra special when they are in season, and they are often significantly more cost-effective during this time.
What’s in Season for Keto right now?
- Asparagus
- Avocado
- Bok Choy
- Broccoli
- Brussel Sprouts
- Cabbage
- Cauliflower
- Leeks
- Lemon/Lime
- Turnips
Not only will these foods taste great, but you can stock up and spend a little extra time playing around with your favorite recipe. So, other than the usual(s) like bacon and all of the above foods, let’s deep dive into a recipe that I know you’ll love!
If you haven’t had Keto-loaded cauliflower, you’re in the right place!
This super flavorful meal will remind you of a baked potato!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh cauliflower
- Three tablespoons butter
- 1 cup shredded cheddar (sharp works best)
- ¼ cup diced onion
- 2 cups cooked brisket (or any shredded chicken, beef or pork)
- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup cooked crumbled bacon
- 2 tablespoons sliced green onion
- ¼ pickled jalapenos (or more if you’re a spice lover)
Instructions:
Chop the cauliflower into small pieces, preferably bite-sized. They could quickly become mushy if they are too small, so pay attention here!
Steam or cook until they are tender and set aside.
(If they have been steamed or baked, don’t worry about removing the moisture if they have been boiled; set them aside on some cheesecloth to remove the excess water)
Set stove heat to medium and add the butter, onion, and jalapeno slices to your skillet. Saute until the onions are translucent.
Reduce the heat slightly, add your cooked brisket (or choice of leftover beef/chicken/pork) and add the cream cheese.
If the mixture begins to stick or cook too quickly, reduce the heat a bit.
Continue cooking until your cream cheese is heated through and quickly stirred.
Turn off the heat.
Add sharp cheddar, heavy cream and cauliflower. Stir this mixture quickly until all cheeses are melted and thoroughly combined.
Don’t forget to sprinkle your crumbled bacon and green onions.
Serve warm, and think about the next time you’ll make this dish!
I know this one is delicious, but remember the serving size is 1 cup.

Here’s the truth. I sometimes miss my old go-to’s, like baked potatoes. But having access to simple keto recipes like this makes cooking…and eating in these winter months much more enjoyable. It’s just that much better to find and purchase in-season foods to cook and enjoy because of the more decadent flavors!
Purchasing and preparing in-season foods doesn’t need to be strictly strawberry or fruit-based; our incredible selection of seasonal vegetables counts too!
Once you have tried this one, let me know your thoughts. I’d love to continue to provide y’all with more ucanketo in-season recipes!

This was great, did not realize what is actually in season right now. Looking forward to trying the recipe soon.
For the pickled jalapeños, is that supposed to be 1/4 C or 1/4 of a whole jalapeño?
Depends on your preference — spice level is always up to you!
These ideas for in season and the recipe are what I’ll be on the lookout for.
