There is so much information floating around about how Keto can affect your mood. What you choose to believe or not is entirely up to you. However, the truth is there just is not enough long term evidence to suggest what is believable or not – so, here is my take on ….
Keto and my mood.
Reduced Inflammation
The reduction in inflammation in my body has allowed me to feel better. Most days, I even feel really good. The reduction in inflammation because of a Keto lifestyle will reduce the instances of illness, and it will reduce the severity of symptoms. In a nutshell, my mood has improved simply because a Keto lifestyle naturally reduces inflammation in my body.
Smashing Goals
Meeting weight loss goals feels good. Meeting any goal feels good, but when you have been a long time yo-yo’er or have seen a steady increase in weight that felt impossible to lose – and now you’re losing it? This makes me feel good, this improves my confidence and my mood!
And truthfully, smashing any goal feels amazing.
Increased Energy
The Keto road was a bumpy one in the very beginning. I made a lot of mistakes, had to restart several times, and have had to really be clear on Keto being a lifestyle rather than a diet…
But once I did, my mood changed because I was committed and I had more energy than I think I ever had before. Feeling sluggish, that sugar crash after a carb heavy meal or candy, and the disrupted sleep pre-Keto all disrupted my energy levels. Life felt like a constant roller-coaster of feeling blah and unmotivated to take care of myself physically.
Now that I have all of this energy, I’m able to focus on what really matters; like supporting this Keto community and ensuring I remain the healthiest version of myself.
Learning
Learning new things is always a mood-booster for me. Since starting Keto almost a decade ago I have learned more about my body, my relationship with food, and how food can be the ultimate fuel for my body and mind than I could have ever imagined! The continued learning, sharing information and seeing the joy in others when they are feeling good about themselves is a great source of happiness for me – as I’m sure it is for others as well!
Keto Just Feels Good?
There may be many mixed messages about how Keto affects your mood biologically, but I am here to tell you that in a group of over 189K people – even on down days, we feel better than we did before Keto entered our lives! Being overweight, obese, unhealthy, sedentary and sick certainly affects your mood. Feelings of unworthiness, sadness, stress, defeat, and uncertainty can have horrible effects on how we regulate our moods (or not).
What’s not to love about learning, growing, increased energy, being a part of a community, helping others, losing weight, being more active, being less sick, shopping for new clothes, and having more energy to do the things you love?!
If you ask me, this is how Keto has an effect on my mood! How has it affected yours?

p.s. Make sure you’ve downloaded my Keto Guide to help YOU get started (or restart) on your Keto Journey
I do keto for my diabetes. I have found that it really helps lower my blood sugar. Thanks so much for all your help and encouragement
I feel great on keto..however, my body has enter menopause and can’t seem to budge a single pound..going on 10 months..would love to hear if you have any keto wisdom to help shift the scale..any advice would help!
I’m doing Keto to make rehab easier. A car accident has me fairly bedridden and doing anything proactive to reduce inflammation and lessen my weight will help me in so many ways!
Darlene, I found fasting helped me during menopause. I started with intermittent fasting then I expanded on that. I feel great when I fast!
The best thing I ever stumble upon! Unintended ketosis gave me curiosity to learn about keto….Ucanketo you tube videos then Facebook group….. 2 years later healthier, smaller and smarter about my health thank God for Ucanketo
I haven’r had any mood problems.
In addition to the reasons you stated Amy, Keto affects my mood because I am proud of myself for making a commitment to ME; and keeping it.
Hi Amy,
I feel so much better living the keto lifestyle. I have so much more energy and just feel better. My high blood pressure has improved as well. Thanks to this supportive group that helps me get through it one day at a time. Keto on 😊
Amy R.

Thank you Amy for the many reminders of the KETO benefits. The weight I’ve lost and kept off for neatly 4 years has given me confidence and happiness.
Thank you Amy. You are always so open.
I feel better on KETO. That improves my mood. My arthritis discomfort is much less and that improves my mood.
So thankful for you and this group. ❤
I agree with everything you said. The loss of inflammation is amazing. Also committing to this as a lifestyle is world changing for me. Took a few tries, but one meal at a time has changed everything for me. I am down 15 lbs and on my way to my goal. So thankful I found you 3.5 years ago. I am hardheaded so I had to restart a few times, but I always feel better on Keto!!
this is very helpful and true about inflammation
I hit 26 lbs down this week and yes…more energy and better mood! Thanks Amy!

Keto has made a huge difference in my life. I have lost 40 pounds so far and am 20 pounds to my goal. I could not have done it without Amy and her team at ucanketo!
I needed this article at this exact moment. For real!
Hi, I just want to thank you for being such a powerful person and leader of our group. I have started keto several times and fell hard in January 2021 when I lost my best friend of 17 years. My little fur baby Tucker. I eat when I get upset and that is what I did for several months. One day I was sitting here wondering who had a product I could trust to help me and I thought about you. I have purchased several products but I really don’t have alot of money so I sure hope I picked out the right ones. I am not happy with the activate or the burn. I will probably be returning those. I hope the trim and the pure work to keep me on track. I wish Modere had a bundle withTrim and Pure with a box of Go. Just an idea. Thank you Amy for helping change so many peoples lives for the better. We really do appreciate you.
Thank you Amy, you put in so much effort to help us on our journey. I finally got back to keto about 4 weeks ago and I do feel much better. My knee is so much better going down the stairs.
When I joined this group, there was a little over 6,000 members. It has been inspirational to see its growth and the inner circle continuing so support all of us, approaching 200k now! How exciting. I find this journey is much easier when you have a keto buddy. It’s very motivating and really keeps a mental balance for me.
I am struggling mightily because of several areas of intense stress in my life at this time. I have fallen back into old comfort food zones. I’m trying to rally and find my way back. Thank you for all the encouragement and information and all you pour into us. ❤️
TY so much for always reaching out to us as much as you do. My Keto journey isn’t as petfect as I would like but everyday is NEW DAY to start new. I try not to beat myself up when I fail but I do try something everyday. I know how horrible my body feels when I don’t. The inflammation & pain from Fibro alone. I won’t give up until I can be the best I can be. My family deserves a Healthy Mom & Wife but I deserve to be Healthy For My Own Self Worth. TY for all your encouragements & for having this wonderful group! Much Love J.
You have been an inspiration to me and your advice and recipes are so helpful. The products help as well
I agree I feel better and mood is great when I do keto. However, I struggle big time
with constant nausea and vomiting from bad gut health. I’m living off saltine crackers, chicken noodle soup and ginger ale for the last several months. Needless to stay my mood is way off base. Will be so glad when I can get back to Keto.
Thank you so much for all your post & videos. They are so helpful and appreciate
Love reading all this information! Thank you so much!
Thank you Amy,
You continue to inspire me to work on being the best version of myself.
Amy as always I get value in what you share. You have been a part of my journey shortly after I began doing Keto . I started following you in November of 2017. I’ve been struggling lately with gaining 10 losing 5 gaining again losing . The struggle is real. I think honestly I need to go back to the basics. Thanks for all the support.
I am eating healthy, was borderline diabetic got it back on track from an 8 to 5. Was having a rough time with high cholesterol had bad side effects with the meds. Thanks to Amy I got it under control and maintaining it. Appreciate your time given to the group no words can express my thanks Amy.
Thank you Amy for everything you do. I am new to Keto lifestyle but I already feel much better. It feels amazing to have all this energy, and the fact that my stomach doesn’t hurt all the time. I have already lost 15 lbs and I am super happy about it. Tonight I made my first keto bread. Yummy! My only regret in this is that I did not know about keto before 😁

I agree about the keto reducing inflammation. Also we have a history of diabetes in our family and keto has helped me keep my insulin levels down. I feel great while living the keto lifestyle.
Thank you Amy !
This is absolutely the truth!
Thank you so much for you dedication and support
You’re the best!
Thank you for the encouragement. I am really struggling but doing one day at a time.
Thank you for sharing your heart and all your knowledge! I’ve been following you since 2017! I have never felt better than when I’m following the keto woe. Covid and life took my focus away, but I’m back and feeling so much better! Thank you for all you do for all of us!

Thanks for all your hard work for the keto community
Thank you for being such an inspiration.
I have struggled with my moods over the years. When I stay on the Keto diet, I do feel better. Thanks so much for sharing your journey and yes you can keto!!
I look forward to your weekly blog almost as much as the weekly meal plans. Since starting Keto and following your FB group I no longer need medication for arthritis or fibromyalgia. I sleep like a rock and awake refreshed and ready to meet each new day. Thank you Amy and team for being there for all of us.
Thank you for adding me. I am still in the decision mode. I did Keto for 9 months felt better than ever lost quite a bit of weight(50). I primarily followed Dr Berg who I completely trust. But still It was a struggle for me as I am high cortisol and insulin resistant. Holidays I cheated and have never been able to get back. I keep questioning why God created foods and we call them bad. Where is the balance? I missed certain foods while ketoing. I didn’t crave them just missed them and feel guilty for it.
Do you have any advice to help me get over that decision hump?
Thank You for All you do for us Amy. You are truly a Blessing 🙂
I can’t imagine *not* being Keto!
Thanks for all you do! Appreciate your site, your blog, and ALL the awesome information you take time to share. Great community to be a part of for Keto inspiration.
I love your blogs! I actually have done keto for 3 1/2 years. Currently am struggling with weight gain from covid shutdown and major back surgery. I need to loose my 10 extra lbs but cant seem to budge scales. Im on a very limited budget due to disability. I have a very hard time fasting. Help
When I’m on Keto my sugars cholesterol triglycerides are all normal
My inflammation is almost gone
For past month have been off all Keto and modere products due to kidney stones. Had two surgery and now have blood clots in lung and leg and painful inflammation
As of Tuesday have permission to start again but watch the high fat.
I know first hand how Keto and modere products really work
Thanks Amy 😍
Love you Amy! I think it is funny that I tend to lose site of how good I feel when doing keto until I slide and start eating non-keto foods. That is when I really notice the difference on how much better I feel when eating properly.
Thank you Amy for your honest comments. I’m new to Keto and have started and “re-started” a lot. I appreciate your recipes and your helpful advice. Also, I’m a BIG fan of peach 🙂
Hi Amy, I started keto last year and i was so successful. I stopped in September and since then have developed arthritis in my hands and wrists. I’m back on keto and can’t wait for all the inflammation to disappear as it did last year. I’ll be returning to follow and start my journey again❤️
Thank you Amy for all your information, I really appreciate your help. I can’t seem to lose the wait that I gained after going on maintenance, any help will be appreciated at how to lose this weight, thank you so much!
I started my Keto journey for the 2nd time April 1, 2021. That first month was rough and I too made mistakes. It wasn’t until I got in the groove that i noticed no more aching back and my energy picked up!! Yahoo!!
I noticed more positive changes since I added Modere Trim, Pure Activate and Go! The loss of inches, and the weight loss has been amazing. I love being on keto and I’m worth it!!
Thank you for this information. I have struggled with my weight for so long and tried many different avenues. I am now beginning Keto and I appreciate you.
Completely fell off the wagon, going to get back on track!! You definitely provide all the information I need to get me started. I have to get focused, and stay focused.
