Routines can help with keto goals, mainly because routine can help with any goals! With that being said, it’s important to note that there is no one routine that will help everyone, just like there is no amount of routine that can outweigh a lack of motivation. But… finding a morning routine that works for you is going to be the greatest gift you can give yourself.

A routine can help you to rest better, remain organized and can help you maintain your keto progress.

The thing about routines that helps me, is that they can change when my goals and needs change.

They are fluid, so they grow with me. The routine I had a year ago may not be the same routine I can manage now, and mayne this is the same for you.

Let’s start with some general routine ‘rules of thumb’.

I’m talking about how you wake up in the morning, how you spend your mid-day, and how you unwind at night. These can have underlying foundations that will lead to the same outcomes, but the details will be individual.

What can these routine rules look like?
Waking up:

We can all have very different details with regards to how we wake up, but no matter how that happens, everyone should get in some movement and some water.

Whether it is a full-out workout, a walk, or some stretches – getting your body moving before you turn to your phone (I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this) will clear your mind and improve your mood.

A clear mind means better decision making, especially when it comes to the food choices you make.

Prayer or meditation:

Once you have established some clarity and you are completely awake, taking a few minutes for prayer, gratitude or meditation is so vital to how the day can unfold.

The reason I don’t suggest this first is that it’s very easy to pray in bed, then fall back asleep.

This is not a step you want to just get over with, it requires some thought and real intention. Prayer or meditation will help you to pour some love and appreciation back into yourself, making it more likely to want to take care of your body all day.

Make a list:

Or, revisit an unfinished list from the day before.

Prioritizing your day with a list you can check off can help clear your mind from overthinking other things. If you’re anything like me, overthinking is a specialty. But, I have also learned how much time it can take up in my day.

Lists help me to remain on task, not worry about what I need to do next, and not think about something I should have, could have, or would have done!

Breakfast:

Whether you are intermittent fasting or not, having breakfast requires its own time. How many times have you just put food in your mouth while rushing to do other things?

It’s so easy to lose track of what you are consuming if you don’t take the time to enjoy each meal or snack. Keto is about reframing how you think and feel about food as fuel, this starts with paying attention!

Get to work or learning:

If you want to know how to be more productive, you need to get to work. Once you have got everything else out of the way, you have a clear mind and schedule to work or learn.

Schedule your breaks and snacks, and make sure you have lots of water available so you don’t find yourself craving sweets or snacks because you are thirsty!

Maintaining a clear mind and starting your day with things that feel good is exactly how you will stay on top of your keto goals.

Taking care of all aspects of your life is how you will keep your keto lifestyle at the forefront of your goals.

Re-evaluating your routines and changing them to reflect the changes in your life is equally as important, and remember, if you fall off the routine bandwagon, tomorrow is a new day – a new start.

I hope this helps clarify how having a morning routine will help with your keto goals!
