Is keto on a budget impossible? This is the million dollar question!

The truth is, keto does not have to shrink your waistline and your wallet. While many (or most) keto influencers can make keto look super fancy on “the gram”, it doesn’t have to be expensive, pretty, or complicated if you don’t want it to be.

With all of this being said …

… the budget friendly keto possibilities are endless.

Here are just a handful of ways to cut costs, and still lose weight in the most healthy and instagrammable way possible.

  1. Meal prep. I mean, I know I have shared this time and time again, but this WORKS. Plan your meals for the week, and use one or two days to prep them! You can purchase tupperware or those plastic food containers with compartments off Amazon which makes everything tidy, stackable in the fridge or freezer, and easy for your budget friendly keto meals.
  2. Make friends with veggies. Veggies are more affordable when they are in season, they also taste much better! Get to know which of your favorite keto friendly veggies are in season and when, and plan your meals accordingly. Balanced keto meals include vegetables, so don’t get caught up in the all meat, no carb idea.
  3. Bulk Bulk Bulk. Buy your food in bulk! It can take a little more time to separate them and store them, but you will certainly save money….that you can spend on smaller clothes! If storage is an issue, Amazon has great options for storage containers that will allow you to make the most of small(er) spaces. And let’s be honest, it feels good to open cupboards and see keto organizational heaven.
  4. Eggs are your protein superfood. Eggs are full of protein and vitamins, but they are so versatile that you cannot possibly get tired of them. Your keto budget needs space for eggs, and eggs will allow you to maintain a high protein keto diet that will keep you from getting hungry!
  5. Make your snacks. Get yourself a box of those snack sized ziplocs and start measuring nuts and other snacks you have set for your keto week. It’s easy to lose track of how many handfuls of a snack that you have had, especially if you are busy, driving, or hanging out with friends. Take the guesswork out of snacking, trust me, this is how many people end up not losing the weight they expect to.
  6. Choose your meat wisely. We all love a great steak, but eating steak all the time is not practical or budget friendly. Purchasing meat on sale and in bulk is a great way to save money, and so is buying alternative cuts. Instead of steak, buy roast beef. Instead of bacon, pick up some chicken breasts. It’s easy to choose alternatives to what you are used to, and it puts you in a position to try new things!

Being prepared is always the key …

When it comes to keto on a budget.
