It’s road-trip season, and here are 5 great ways to help you remain keto while enjoying the weather!

Road-tripping can be so much fun, but it could feel intimidating if you are new to Keto! This is why I created this list to make planning simple.

What if you get hungry and don’t know what to snack on?

What if there is nowhere to stop for snacks you are familiar with?

Well, like with everything else Keto, preparation is the key!

This doesn’t always need to be prepared Keto snacks or a cooler for your road trip (which can take the spontaneity out of it).

Still, it’s just knowing what Keto snacks or foods are easy and convenient while on the road. It is also about speaking to people about your food restrictions in a way they can understand and serve you best!

I have made almost every Keto mistake. So I’ll leave you with a list to help you avoid the mistakes I’ve made!

5 of my top suggestions for staying Keto on a road trip:

  1. Google is your friend! If you plan to stop for a meal, map out local restaurants and Google their menu! That’s it. Look at what they offer, and see if there are suggested changes that can be made to accommodate you, or better yet if they have Keto friendly meals!
  2. When you order food, or if you are looking for Keto suggestions…..tell your servers or gas station attendant that you are Keto and see what they suggest (if anything). The point is, you never know what someone else can share with you until you ask. Some of the best keto suggestions I have gotten while eating on the road have come from strangers!
  3. Pack snacks or buy snacks you know are Keto! Almonds, cheese, beef jerky, pepperettes, cheese crisps, fat bombs, bacon, nut butter, prepared Keto snacks….These are all great ideas; remember to read labels (ALWAYS) and watch your portion sizes! It’s so easy to get carried away when you’re having fun and not paying attention to how much you are enjoying your Keto snacks.
  4. Take a bulletproof coffee with you! The fat in a BP coffee can help to curb hunger, so you aren’t tempted to reach for non-keto snacks! Some of my favorite coffees also come in instant single-serving travel packs; this makes it so much easier! Alternatively, ensure you have lots of water and electrolytes to stay hydrated!
  5. Intermittent fasting is a great way to plan to stay on track! You can prepare to have two big meals during the day with intermittent fasting. This is easy enough, and if you are a planner, it makes the planning process much easier! Having a big, fat-filled breakfast and a plan for dinner later in the day can help you keep snacking to a minimum, and it makes the stress of finding Keto foods disappear!
Road trips should be fun and exciting!

… and if you’re like me, in the past, they included a lot of poor food choices (and Dr. Peppers).

Staying Keto while on a road trip can be just as fun, and your body will feel better if you manage to stay on track with what it has been used to!

How often have you traveled or gone on a road trip and felt absolutely disgusting afterward? Now you can still maintain your Keto lifestyle AND experience the fun of a road trip simultaneously!

So tell me, what have I missed?

If you are a road tripper, what helpful tip has worked for you?

Until then, I hope you have learned something about 5 great ways to remain keto while you road-trip!
